ABOUT GOTSI

Girls on the Street Initiative (GOTSI) is a project of Engage Diaspora Foundation

a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization registered in Maryland, United States of America. We work especially with Nigerians in the Diaspora to ensure our Diaspora community stay relevant, useful, and give back to their homeland. Our current project – Girls on the Street Initiative (GOTSI) is focused primarily on young women who are on the streets in Nigeria – that is with no home or shelter. Our overall goal is to take many of them off the street and equip them with meaningful life skills for survival within the society.

Our Focal Areas

This will be achieved through collaboration with critical stakeholders to identify areas of intervention and deployment of appropriate strategies in the following focal areas.

Education

Improve access to education.
Reduce school drop out.
Promote skills acquisition.
Promote self awareness.

Social Justice

Provide access to legal aid.
Promote social well-being.
Reduce gender inequality.
Reduce gender-based violence (GBV).

Reproductive Health

Reduce early marriages.
Promote reproductive health.
Reduce child and maternal mortality rate.
Promote personal hygiene.

Poverty Reduction

Promote access to finance.
Support small businesses.
Promote economic development.
Improve quality of life and wellbeing.

(GOTSI) is established to be a multi-pronged approach in giving the girl-child opportunities and moving them from neglect to self-awareness and self-realization. GOTSI intervention will be holistic, planned and impact focused.
